pH Health Monitoring Cat Litter: A Buyer Guide

Understand colour indications, format choices and instructions for cat litter used as an observation aid.

Understand the observation

pH monitoring litter provides visible colour indications to help owners observe urine pH during routine care. It is an observation aid, not a veterinary diagnosis. Colour should be read using the instructions and chart for the selected product.

In the demonstrated PREMIER chart, orange indicates acidic urine, light green indicates the normal range and blue indicates alkaline urine. Numeric cutoffs and reading time must come from the final product instructions rather than a photograph.

Choose the right format

PREMIER offers a non-clumping pH crystal format and a clumping health monitoring crystal format. The non-clumping pH product is not suitable for automatic litter boxes. The clumping option can be considered for compatible automatic boxes, with the model confirmed before selection.

Review the consumer instructions

Keep indicator claims within the selected product

Do not assume that a pH indication also measures blood, protein or glucose. Each indicator requires its own confirmed formulation and instructions. Separate health screening granules are not part of the current PREMIER website range.

Include instructions in the private label brief

Review the chart, claim wording and packaging together. The product and the consumer explanation should describe the same monitoring function.
