Crystal Cat Litter Particle Size: A Buyer Guide
Choose a particle-size brief around the box, handling and customer expectations. A size range is useful only with a consistent sampling basis.
What a particle-size range tells you
A range such as 1–8 mm, 1–4 mm or 0.5–2 mm is a purchasing specification to discuss, not proof that every particle has the same diameter. Ask how the range is measured and what proportion of material may fall outside it. Availability of these example ranges must be confirmed for the selected product.
Granule shape and size distribution affect how a sample looks, pours and passes through a scoop. Compare samples from the same product format before isolating size as the reason for a difference.
Match the size to the application
Check the intended scoop openings and the litter box instructions. A particle that pours cleanly may behave differently when scooped after use. For automated boxes, particle size alone cannot establish compatibility; the clumping behavior and selected machine model also matter.
Build a useful sample comparison
- Label each sample with its stated size range and product format.
- Use the same sample quantity, box and scoop.
- Record dust observation, handling and clean-up separately.
- Photograph the sample with a scale reference when documenting format differences.
Do not turn a visual comparison into a numeric performance claim. Ask for the measurement method and a representative sample before approving a label statement.
Confirm before ordering
Write the agreed range, packaging and acceptance basis into the product brief. Review the bag weight and carton configuration at the same time, because product density and packaging affect handling and shipment.
